In other news, I've got a cut on my finger and I have no idea where it came from. I always wonder about that - Finding wounds on your body and having no idea. Either human bodies are just that fragile or we're very forgetful creatures. I mean, srsly.
Somehow, I failed to mention Sunday, which was fantastic. To sum it up, I went into Bawwstunn, met up with my old friend Becky who I've known since that fateful summer I first went off to the big wide world of university, we ate mac n cheese, talked, ate gelato, laughed, ate cupcake, went to Urban Outfitters and bought me an amazing dress, conversated about filmmaking and art like the pretentious-amibitious-born-n-raised-along-the-banks-of-the-CT-river-students we are, had tea and latté, apparently engorged ourselves with food, and just plain frolicked throughout one of my least favourite cities in the drizzle and made me not hate the place so much. You know, Cambridge is pretty neat. I mean, it's not a city I'd want to live in - I just don't get any special vibe from it, it's really nothing special, but it just felt good to be in the city again. I love Provvy, but nothing can beat the big city feel. God I miss London, especially with the recent mist occurrances.
Anyway, I've digressed. The specific reason I'd gone up there besides to see my fellow Doctor Who fanatic was to see PATRICK WOLF live at the Middle East. ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS EVER. HOLY CRAP. I was nervous about this - He's such a genius recorded that I was afraid he would be unimpressive live, but my fears were groundless! We watched some real fun bands prior [Jaguar Love, The Plasticines, and The Living Things], went to Wendy's to nibble some fries [ah, the shame], found out the flying ants had re-invaded my bedroom [no surprises...they've since been vanquished], and then Voila! The man appears on stage an hour past his time to go on, decked out in this fabulous outfit and makeup, looking like he's ready to strut down the catwalk [which he later admitted he dreams of doing...36 catwalks all throughout Boston, specifically] and he just bangs out unbelievable song after unbelievable song. I saw him play about, I think, four different instruments, and we didn't even get to see the whole set because I had to catch the T back to Quincy. But we saw him play most of my favourite songs: Bluebells [one of my favourite songs ever made by anybody ever], Accident & Emergency, Tristan, Enchanted, The Libertine...
I had shivers and tears in my eyes. You know it was a success.
That was the best sum up I could give. Basically, it will have gone down as one of the best days of '09 and I'm so glad it happened. The end.

cambridge is so superior to boston. i was driving down mass ave a couple weeks ago (on my way to the middle east actually) and as soon as i passed from boston into cambridge, the entire atmosphere changed. i'm more of a fan of the harvard square area than the central square/middle east area, but yeah, so much better. i hate actual boston more and more every time i go there.
ReplyDeletealso, is the title of your post referring to this?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXoPLeIIUFY
if so, awesome. if not, check out that show :-p
I agree...Harvard Square area is actually pretty cool. Lots of places for tea, a really great Urban Outfitters, pretty neat set up - It's actually almost aesthetically pleasing - Imagine! So yeah, you are correct.
ReplyDeleteI still hate Boston and think Providence is far superior [to compare cities in this region of New England] and does not get enough credit :]
And no I wasn't referring to that haha! Though I have seen it before. A friend of mine was just talking about praying mantises and whether you could get them for your garden to eat the bad bugs and I Wikipedia'd it and was reminded of the fact that they eat each other after sex, which I find completely unnecessary...and that subject ensued :]
