Semi-exciting. I'm starting up a secondary blog! [In addition to this one]. It could really serve its purpose here, but this blog [home base] is really scrambled and disjointed enough as it is without the addition of something completely organised and sensical. Alas.
I stumbled upon this website where this creative young woman created outfits inspired by great works of art. Awesome! This is awesome. Here it is.
My favourite works of art listed:
- the Van Goghs [no doubt]
- the Perion [nostalgic, for many unrelated reasons]
- the Dali [dali is cool.]
- the Rauschenberg [text!]
- the Vettriano [scottish romance!]
- the French Revolution poster [posters! and the french rev and i go way back]
My favourite outfits created:
- Toulouse-Lautrec #1 [scoop neck + long cardi!]
- the Perion [the satchel! also, would want to wear it to that lake. w/o chunky necklace]
- the Goya! [browns! dreary colours! plaid scarf, i'm there]
- the Mistinguett [strapless rompers are cool.]
- the French Revolution poster, again [union flag skirt and amazing double-breasted jacket.]
- the Leighton [makes me want to perform Swan Lake!]
WHAT ARE YOURS?!
I don't necessarily share this particular blogger's tastes in fashion - It's all a little Forever21 for me, but the idea and the design is groovy.
Okay, so point! [counterpoint...just kidding]. My idea is to create outfits inspired by great works of literature! HA! This is a splendid way to combine three of my favourite things: Literature, Bloggin, and Fashion! Yes.
I'm totally not the first person to nail down the idea. Gone googlin' and the first two finds included one from Fashionista, which was certainly clever and related to the styles of the literary periods, but not whole outfits. And even closer to my idea was this article from College Fashion, which is much more along my train tracks with Urban and TopShop clippings, BUT I am going all the way and not going home...or going big and not going home. Whatever, I'm lost in Cliché City.
Please, enjoy! Hopefully, it gets, you know, cool, and word gets out, and people stare at it regularly, like, strangers even, maybe. Maybe even have some guest submissions! People do that. So I've only got one initial entry, and from here on out, I'm going to kick it off with a weekly update.
SAIL ON.
