and it was fun fun fun when we were drinking...

...it was fun fun fun when we were drunk and it was fun fun fun when we were laughing, it was fun fun fun, Oh it was fun.

So Goodbye Bristol Summer - Goodbye Blog.

Just for now. For a wee bit. Kickin it over to the London blog. Don't really know why - It's just that Blogger gives you the option of having multiple blogs under one blogger and I figured - why not take advantage.

But, most importantly, it's always weird to have the Bristol part of the summer come to a close, no matter how long it was, no matter that I'll be returning shortly. And it always seems to end with me dropping off the keys and saying goodbye to the Barn. You'd think it'd be Good riddance after all the complaining I took a heavy part in this summer, but damn, after closing night, I felt good [relative...I mean, about the Barn and Theatre, at least]. Despite the lightboard going berserk more than ever, about ten of my friends - current RWU Barn kids and alum - All came to see the show, got to spend a sunny day with one of my bessfwends, I felt pumped, my headache didn't stick around, the show was an absolute hit, almost full house, and strike was pumped-up-awesome-fun per usual: These are all the makings of an amazing send off.

So I came back in yesterday, grabbed up my wonky wastebasket, considered cleaning the post-strike space a little bit more, considered that I'm really really strange for even considering that, dropped off the keys, and left. No tears this time, potentially because I won't be leaving for three months this time, potentially because I don't feel as sentimental as I once was.

I feel like I get two summers: The Bristol Summer and the London Summer. And I started considering Summer, and I realised I could never be sad about the first summer ending because summer is never about endings: Summer's all about beginnings, and having the balls to do things, start things you could only dream of throughout the rest of the year. The real world as we know it ceases to be as soon as summer starts, and it's a really wonderful thing. But also a really weird thing and it's probably why summer has always given me some strange sort of unease. Anyway, I'd probably like it a lot more without so much heat.

So what I'm trying to say is that Bristol Summer was really really awesome. Never what I expected. It made me smile and it made me crazy and it made me rage and it made me elated and it made me miserable and it made me blissful but most of all it brought me excitement no matter what the underlying mood of the day was. And what more could I ask for?

...yeah well I feel all pretty happy too, and I'm always pretty happy when I'm just kickin back with you.

When shows or films reuse a character but replace them with a different actor from the original.

I was thinking, for some reason, about how they brought Pete Tyler back onto Doctor Who in season 2 after having him in one episode in season 1 and how it's awesome that they were able to get the same actor back to do it. This was not the case, though, for example, in another favourite show of mine, Red Dwarf. Christine Kochanski became a regular character on the show in the later seasons after appearing in the first episode...Obviously not the same actress. In fact, didn't even play her remotely the same way. I, henceforth, could never see this new girl as Kochanski. Always, always a letdown.

I guess not every character has the simple loophole of regeneration.

Just another weakness in film and television. Sad.

grey days make me happier.

Add that to my list of reasons I belong in the UK?

But we're not talking about the UK today. I watched Amelie this morning for the first time in forevskies and it has brightened me like a grey day does to my mood! I really, really love that movie. Proof that a feel-good movie can be extremely artistically titillating.

Now I've got Psych on, which I forgot I had the first season of on DVD, and I have remembered how much I love that, too! Exciting stuff, really. This is what occurs when I give up my stubborn need to not use my TV lately. So wrong. Television, movies, I'm all for it.

Most importantly, of course, is the realisation of the day: I don't need to become an alcoholic to never, ever be sober. I refuse to have inhibitions! To a point, of course, but I currently vote for everlasting drunkenness.

The dent in my thumb is back. I remember now how much time I spent focusing on that damn dent when I was last in London. It seriously invaded my thought. And it has returned!

I lied..... [sixdays].

ONE WEEK.

Is how long til I leave for England. SRSLY. A WEEK. So excited to be back. Nuff said.

AND YESYESYES

I got a ticket in the lower centenary, Kopside, to see LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB [my love] vs Atletico Madrid. Basically, once in a lifetime.

Only problem is they're mailing my ticket to my American address...Oi. That needs to not happen.

Nothing in life is simple, but there are things that are so, so worth it, every time.

TWO WEEKS.

Is not just, by far, my favourite song by Grrrrizzly Bear.

It is also how long til I'm on a plane back to the UK, if I haven't said it enough, but it's official now.

This means that in one week, I'll probably be even more obnoxious about it.

But most importantly, in the works is a tee shirt design upon which is featured a colon [grammatical not anatomical] wearing a party hat and it says "I Am Crazy For Colons" because, really, I am. On the back will be a photo of a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon, which I have never tasted [I know, right? And I call myself an indie fark] but I hear the cool kids are all over that. It's a party.

Also in the works, booking plans for Cardiff.

There are, somehow, things getting me through this show.

Holly, plot a course for AWESOME.

07 July 2009

Just a few hours...

It'll be two weeks until I leave for England and lets just say...

I've never been more thrilled that I'll be done and off to England in two weeks,

not just because it's paradise,

and even though I'll be studying stage management, which, has, I believe, been officially ruined for me,

But to get away from all of this.

I am beyond ready to be out of that building, out of this town, out of this state,

HELL

out of this country.

And I'm only getting angrier by writing all of this because I do not know at all how to react to being talked down to more than I ever have before in my life and here I am, blogging about it, which is certainly not the way I would like to react to it.

So all I've done thus far is shut up and accidentally chip glass and scream a lot in my head the second I walk into stairwells.

Not okay.

update!

Speaking of dates, at some point tonight, the time/date will be
12:34:56 7/8/9
Or at least in the States.

Anywho, first of all, I was looking at the LFC website this morning and WHAAAT there is a friendly match HOME between LFC and Atletico ON the exact date that I'm going up to Liverpool. WHAAAWHAAWHAAAAT would I give to be at that match?! That is a lucky lucky thing and I hope it, well, occurs.

Secondly, I was just looking at a map of the UK, making sure there wasn't some place I'd rather visit than Bristol, and my eyes veered to Cardiff. Now, I considered visiting when I was last in the UK, but didn't think anything of it - SILLY ME - As I had forgotten that this is where they shoot DOCTOR WHO. So this might need to happen. Me + Cardiff. Besides, could technically add that to my list of countries I'll have been to: England, Austria, and Wales. Hopefully staying on that out-of-the-ordinary track I tend to enjoy.

In other news, I am wholely adverse to the weather this summer. It's freaking me out a bit. I've never seen Bristol so grey for such long periods of time.

Tomorrow: countdown at two weeks. YES.
