Mother Abbess: Some people would call that honesty.
Maria: Oh, but it's terrible!
Watching "The Sound of Music" makes me feel oh-so-good! That man loves his beautiful country so darn much. That lady's so gosh dern awkward, but so freaking loveable. It's even better since going to Salzburg back in November. It seems unfair that people still get to live in that breathtaking city among those unreal mountains. New England can never compare to that. Even our forests and our oldest, most historical buildings. I wonder if hundreds of years from now, people will look at 2008-style architecture and be blown away by its beauty. Somehow, I doubt it, which is pretty depressing. Is the Age of Beauty far gone? Hm.

I realized today that I'm finally feeling physically almost 100% better. I haven't had a coughing fit in a couple days. Coughed maybe once yesterday. And my muscle injury [from coughing] seems to be all healed up! To think a couple weeks ago, I couldn't move. Getting sick like that is probably worth it just for the feeling you get when it's over. Ah, relief.
I'm really annoyed that I can't watch BBC online. Apparently there is a new Wallace & Gromit film out. My friend sent me a link, but naturally, it doesn't work outside of the UK. Really? With all of the crazy things the internet can do today, how can I not watch the goals made at the Liverpool game on Saturday? Alas.
Band of the Day: Ugly Casanova
Ugly Casanova is an American indie rock band, which has only released one album. According to the Ugly Casanova website, in 1998 a man named Edgar Graham, aka "Ugly Casanova" impressed himself upon Modest Mouse while backstage at a concert in Denver. After some prodding, he shared his work with the band, and began performing it early before shows while some people were milling around. Whenever he completed these performances, he retreated quickly with a look of anger and shame. After a time, a few small recordings were created, after which Edgar vanished. Sadly, since then, Isaac Brock has ruined the magic and the mystery by telling the world the truth that he made up Edgar Graham in order to separate himself from the band to avoid interviews. Oh well. The music is still really, really good, especially if you like Modest Mouse. My favourite tracks at the 'mo' are "Things I Don't Remember" and "Parasites."
I'm also hopefully starting to write a play. I have come to realize that as much as I've always wanted to join film and theatre together into this ultra-sexy combination, it seems that it is music I can never seem to separate from anything.
And to close this with the quote of the day...
My mum and I give each other a look about something my sister said. My sister responds to this...
Amy: What are your eyes for?
Mum: Seeing?
