more of what we want & can't have.

How badly do I want to go to this:

The answer is: Very. Very badly.

But I can't. Music Festival in THE GORGE, WASHINGTON. Memorial Day Weekend. And it sounds brilliant on many accounts. I didn't post the trailer because, actually, I don't like the trailer. The audio is very not pretty. BUT, personally, I've been itching to go to Oregon/Washington for many a year and, well, I guess England typically prevails, BUT srsly, in my dreams.

Name a list of all my favourite bands and a good majority would be at this festival. Here's a few! [There's more bands than this, but these are ones that I'm titillated by because this is my blog, and I can]...

Saturday, we've got My Morning Jacket, Miike Snow, The Hold Steady, and GET THIS, my beloved Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.
Sunday, we've got Dirty Projectors, Tallest Man on Earth, Girls, and The Fruit Bats [who I totally missed in Boston back in September for no good reason!] Oh, and, yeah, haha, the comedy stylings of Mr Mike Birbiglia: My favourite stand-up comedian, in fact, the only one I've ever really given two crappers about.
And Monday, holy crap: MGMT, New Pornographers, Band of Horses, Dr Dog [who I'm seeing in May anyway], and the frickin Mountain Goats! [though I guess I've seen them already at least].

But, I mean, really.

  1. i told youuu that washington owns all. there have been so many things that have happened there in the past couple of weeks/are going to happen there soon that i'm really sad i can't be there for (like a lecture by patti smith, a photo exhibition guest curated by graham nash who gave a talk at the opening of it, a comic convention featuring leonard nimoy, a chance to meet jr celski [olympic speed skater], heart concert at the experience music project museum, mudhoney reunion show that was free w/the purchase of a beer, etc.). i also want to be there this same weekend (which is also my birthday weekend) because that figure skating tour that they're doing with the 2010 olympic competitors is having its seattle performance on may 29th, and evan lysacek (who is the only one of them i'm interested in seeing and is not skating in the boston performance) will be skating in it. sigh. teleportation technology is needed. you should definitely visit washington though. i've never been to oregon. i'd like to go there as well.
