The Outsiders is the reason that I still hold it against myself that I didn't become a published novelist before I turned seventeen. SE Hinton's success has filled me with regret since I was thirteen, wrote my first novel, and never published it.
Most people regret silly relationships, or a drunken night, or swearing in front of a grandparent. I regret letting down my lifelong dreams. Okay, when it's put that way, it sounds pretty normal.
