When I think back to this semester, which is technically over as today was the last day of classes, I will think of certain things. I shall probably blorrg about that. Tomorrowish.
I got an award today from the Theatre department for the College of Arts & Sciences awards. Got the same one as last year and it made me smile, but most importantly, the faculty got me a copy of The Backstage Handbook!! It's the Techie Bible [even looks like one]. At ACTF, I complained about how everyone but me had at least one copy, and now I have one, and it's glorious, and I'm going to learn so much.
Also, the London '08 group finally got together today for a dinner at our professor's house. It was so much fun! We watched my video and we looked at everyone's photos and I can't say how much more excited it got me for London '09!! Just over two months and I'll be home. So excitedddd!!!
Okay.

It's Official.
I miss scrubbing marley with a damp paper towel at intermission.
Just spent the last two weeks stage managing the Dance Theatre production. My first experience stage managing dance. Not only did I fall in love with SMing it, but also fell in love with Dance, in itself. Maybe I'd just never seen the right productions, but even the ones I saw in London did not catch my attention at all [except everything in Billy Elliott - That will always hold a warm, cozy place in my heart]. But this one - Which was all modern dance, as that's what we do here - Blew my mind every night.
Besides, you can't say No to that much intense side light. Rad stuff right there.
It's over and I actually feel sad about that. I know it was a good run when I actually feel a little empty afterwards.
I've got a couple weeks before the next show starts up. And then it's about Two Months//Two Shows.
A few more essays and projects and Junior year is donezo. Overall, not a bad run. I feel a little empty inside, so I guess, maybe, third year was a pretty durn good run.

After a Five Hour Rehearsal, It can Be Expected..
I just stepped on my glasses and freaked out a little when I thought it was some sort of living creature. Story of my life.

music things.
The Decemberists released a new album about a month or two months or so ago. I finally gotsdidit. It is absolutely brilliant. I was honestly concerned - And now this is slightly uncool of me but often you can tell when a band's orginality and creativity is going down the drain called "sellingout" when certain types of people start "omg'ing" their ways onto the band's fanlist. And this has sort of started happening with The Decemberists, BUT a blog or so ago, remember dear readers, I mentioned Colin Meloy going on The Colbert Report? Well, post me writing that, they performed the song "The Wanting Comes in Waves" off their new album and I fell head over heels for it, busting my way onto the iTunes store. It's a hit, kids. While they've always done the storytelling song thing, this whole album actually tells a story from start to finish - One cohesive story. Very creative, very theatrical, beautiful. Props.
Ted Leo is playing up the road in Provvy in June. Now, I have been pumped about this fact for quite a h'wile since I saw the great news spattered on his Last.fm page. It was written on my calendar. I was READY. Come to find out, the show I'm stage managing this summer has a performance that night. And I'm getting paid the bigbux this time so it's not like I can even slack off and have my ASM or something cover that night. Bummin bout that.
The Shins are playing in Boston in May. Soon! THAT I can hopefully hopefullyyyyy go to. Thirty bucks. Probably worth it? I adore - ADORE - That band and would love to see them live. It's a sit-down venue...again...But I made it through the Mountain Goats still smiling despite it so who knows. That's on the agenda. If they don't play Young Pilgrims, Gone for Good, and Phantom Limb, I'll cry at them. Or just yell the titles I want to hear over and over like the more vocal MG fans did for poor ol John Darnielle. If I'd heard "THIS YEEEAAARR" in a young hipster falsetto one more time, I was going to go play it myself...Which I can do quite well these days SO.
Patrick Wolf is now also playing the Underage Festival in London's Victoria Park, which I will be living right near this summer. He's on the agenda. Needless to say, I'm not underage. And I've dreamed for some time now of seeing the rare vision of Patrick Wolf live. Young children of London, I am in a fight with you. I will be burying my face in pint upon pint at the pub that Sunday, sure enough.
Bout it for now.

i am gonna make it through this year if it kills me.
Schooling is such a weird thing, in general. For so many reasons.
I mean, no one learns the same, works the same, tests the same, can really be educated the same. And yet everyone is basically graded the same, especially at liberal arts universities.
I sometimes [sometimes regret going to a liberal arts university rather than a more specified arts college. But things probably wouldn't have ended up much different, except that I'd probably be sometimes regretting going to a more specified arts college rather than a liberal arts university. Right?
Passing would just really be fantastic. Maybe I expect professors to be more understanding than I should or maybe schooling should be more specified for each student.
Basically, passing, keeping my scholarship, getting through just one more year of college and graduating would really make me happy. It really would.
Back to Dylan Thomas.

oh, cool.
I just accidentally turned on The Colbert Report, which I haven't watched in ages, after a long walkin talk around campus with Ahni, which I also haven't done in ages [the long walk around campus, not the Ahni part]
And Colin Meloy from Decemberists is on! Neat.

26 April 2009
this is today.
Driving back to Rhode Island at 7am [possibly not fun]
Watching dancers rehearse to familiarise myself with the production I'm SMing [possibly helpful]
Doing Front of House for Little Shop [possibly getting a couple papers done simultaneously]
Driving a van full of Stage Company students to the PPAC to see Spring Awakening [possibly lamesauce]
I don't feel like doing much of any of that.
It feels kinda a lot like summer in Connecticut, and it feels kind of awkward.
I got a tan running a booth at a tag sale yesterday. I hate hate hate getting tan. I'm not a big fan of summer.
Well, hey, Grumps. Maybe you should not keep waking up at 6am for stuff on the weekends, kdar?

Port to Starboard, Lads - There's Sure to be Lots of Booties Out Here!
So I've got this minifridge in my bedroom because there is not enough room inside of one fridge for five full grown females even if four of them have a university meal plan [the fifth lonely soldier being me]. This is true.
Now sitting on top of that minifridge is a half full [not half empty] Poland Springs bottle.
On the other side of that water bottle is my bottle of Iron pills - The Anemic's Lifeline, Awesome. The cap and label of this bottle are yellow.
And from where I'm sitting, which is on my bed because I'm just simply begging for back problems lately, I can see through the water bottle at just the right point that it really really looks like there is a bottle of urine on the top of my minifridge and therefore, a moment of my life was actually spent thinking, "Who the HELL left a bottle of urine on my minifridge?!"
I wouldn't really doubt it and this is possibly because a few hours ago, I went to use the toilet and one of my flatmates who shall remain nameless used up ALL the TP, left an empty roll there, no tissues or anything. Not okay.
I wish it was like...an hour ago. I want to shower but 10pm seems too late. I'm like some sort of old person. Oh and by the way, I watched the video of that woman singing that song from Les Mis on Britain's Got Talent and yeah she was really good, but I honestly do not get the hype. I really don't. But, y'know, good for her. I'll bet she wouldn't think there was a bottle of urine on top of her minifridge so she's at least got one on me.
