business.

Returning to a story you've stepped away from for a while, for the purpose of editing it, and feeling successful about the edits is like going on a first date with someone really cool. Doing the same thing, but feeling unsuccessful about the edit, is like eating an entire one of those Ben & Jerry's sized ice creams.

Luckily, I just had a metaphorical date, folks. And word count checks are better than drink tab guilts any day.

end of the line.

I didn't have the heart, today, to tell the ladies who have been making me the best veggie quesadillas for the past three years, practically every day, that I'm graduating when they told me to have a great summer, that they'd be seeing me. I mean, usually I would jump at the chance - 'I'm graduating' has practically become everyday words, like hullo - But it was all too disheartening.

The night before graduation, I plan to drunkenly belt out 'One Day More' while lying on the floor with a bottle of Carlsberg in my hand. It's an inevitability.

repetition hasn't been this great since robert frost, sorta.

This is the narrative [and thumpy rhythm] that runs through my head my last week strolling across this campus.
And I'm gonna leave this town
With the people all tumbling down
And my boots on the diamond road
Behind such a heavy load..

Yeah, man, cool.

marathon.

I haven't been writing here because I finally got a non-university email and it won't let me log into Blogger using a gmail account. This is very silly.

But I graduate, get my bachelors degree, and move away from here in six days, so. Well.

underrated.

Tonight is my class commencement ball. I'm spending it in my bedroom drinking tea and watching The Monkees on VHS via my 7inch television!

As nostalgic as the smell of pine shavings, baking, hay, campfire smoke, and the sound of cows, summer bugs, John Denver, and traditional American Civil War songs are for me, The Monkees really top it all. It's easy to see how our sense of humour really forms in the childhood years. The foundation of my sense of humour obviously was built on The Monkees television show. Wordplay, cheese, doofy characters, irony, fast paced silly...

It also makes me realise how much I often dress, as a twenty-something year old woman in 2010, like a twenty-something year old boy in 1967.

It remains one of my very favourite television shows, and one of my favourite bands. It's a known fact that I had impeccable taste at age eight.

Things that make me feel comfortable no matter what I'm wearing:
  • grey pointelle socks
  • london charm necklace
  • lacy pink undapants
  • aviators that are only slightly too big
  • a pen, somewhere. that really says 'i am ready for anything.'

visions of a financial nature.

I had a dream last night that I was in Washington DC, and then I won some sort of lottery. It was approximately $7,000 or $9,000. [Logically, the $9,000 was representative of when the dream was lucid, the $7,000 when it was not]. My friend Jason was there, and he really didn't care that I just won all that money. [Logically, the most realistic aspect of the vision]. I recall clearly from the end of the dream that, as I ran over a bridge, I called my mum and asked her to put $2,000 of it in my savings account. [Logically, this was to make the amount of money in my savings account an even number]. I then ran off to an airport to hop on a flight to London.

I have so many dreams about money, it's disconcerting.

goldfish.

Any time I take part in a social activity such as a "party" - And not my preferred type of "party" but the kind where silence swells occur every once in a while and last for about twenty-four seconds and my kitchen table ends up smelling like Bud Light Lime and sometimes there's nudity and I usually go to bed with a headache - I wake in a vague depression others may consider a mental hangover. Such activities are so out of character that the only solution is to spend the day in complete and utter solitude. This typically entails a combination built on at least the following:
-Waking up preposterously late [which to me is between 11 and noon, though to the majority of my age group, this is probably more like normal].
-Carrying very few items on my person [wallet, phone, book].
-Cleaning.
-Strolling, and noticing a good 24% of my inhales/exhales.
-Showering late and wearing things I don't often wear.
This occurred today. I'm still really enjoying those inhales/exhales and my bedroom is so clean! I enjoy these days so much more than "parties."
